Deep straw yellow with golden reflections. The Mediterranean scrub immediately emerges on the nose, with a succession of thyme, rosemary and sage, on a mineral background. The minerality and freshness return on the palate, supported by good mouth aromas that recall ripe fruit. Good persistence and elegance. Gorgona Frescobaldi is the fruit of a social project born from the collaboration between Marchesi Frescobaldi and the penal colony on the island of Gorgona, a beautiful island in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. The island, predominantly mountainous, was home to hermits and monks and the object of barbarian incursions. Today the island hosts an open-air penal colony, where inmates can move freely to work and learn new professions that will help them reintegrate into society, at the end of their sentence. Gorgona wine comes from a small vineyard of Vermentino and Ansonica, planted in 1999 in the only area sheltered from strong sea winds. The vineyard is managed organically by the inmates of the prison.
