LADOIX 1ER CRU LES GRECHONS CL75 DOMAINE CHEVALIER
Marcelle Dubois, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Emile Chevalier, inherited the estate shortly after the First World War. Conscious and meticulous, Emile Chevalier spent years of hard work perfecting the quality of the vines after the difficult years of the phylloxera crisis. His son, Georges, took over after Emile and began to expand the estate and increase the prestige of Domaine Chevalier, starting with the planting of 3 hectares of Gamay vines. Georges Chevalier learned quickly, not only because he loved the work, but because of his serious dedication to producing extraordinary wines. In 1959, he decided to bottle all the harvests, resulting in all the wines produced being bottled on the estate from 1969. In 1975, Georges' son, Claude, joined the family business and continued to expand the property by adding another 11 hectares. Since 1994, Claude, influenced by his father, has focused exclusively on the winemaking of the estate vineyards. In 1998, he decided to change some of the working methods in the vineyard, as well as the winemaking process: selection of new barrels, fermentation time, maturation time in barrels, filtration, etc. Today, the estate produces more structured wines that are extremely enjoyable in their youth with excellent cellar potential.
